"...On opening day we hit up a spring Creek right near the Canadian boarder some of you guys will know witch one I am talking about. We hiked down to where there was some deep slow runs, the water temp was around 6 so we new there should be still in there winter holes between to of us we pulled 14 to hand and a lot on-offs, I am rusty. With a week of warm temps, when I hit the river on Friday with a friend that fly fishs for bass and pike but never caught a trout on the fly. We found the river temp 7.5 and by late afternoon we it hit 8 and even started to have a BWO hatch. So we hit all the same spots as I did the week before, as i new where there was some fish for him to catch one. The fishing is getting a lot better, I had 14 to hand and as many picked, now my buddy I put him and all the A water and fished the B water. So with all the re-rigs and tree fish he caught two nice Browns to hand and few on offs, he just got so excited catching them. So we moved to the Chateaugay river to see if they stock the bows yet, I really wanted him to catch a few easy fish but no luck, we ended up fishing it for about 45min, but couldn't catch him fish. So he told me he wanted to be my shadow, and I re-fished the same spots I put him on. I pulled out a nice 15in brown in a few cast, we moved to the next spot and pulled out 2 nice 12inchers, then we moved up under a bridge where a guy with a rapala was just fishing. The main part of the river hits the piller, I explained to him it might look fast but see where it hits the wall the friction slows the water down, and fish will surf in there. So after a few cast I moved up to corner of the wall and bang! A nice 19incher was sitting right there after a short fight it came to hand and my buddy to a pic. The fish are starting to spread out but if you fishing the winter holes you'll have a great day."
